his is Gus, fka Gustavo. This boy is absolutely amazing now but not for most Saint owners.... He was also part of our El Paso 6 that arrived late last year, aged at 4 by the shelter..
When we picked him up from our transfer rescue, they though 6-7... Yet after odd behaviors, like grumbling, greying eyeballs, disorienting behavior we took him to our vet. She aged him at AT LEAST 10! We put him on Gabepentin for pain 2x a day, he was diagnosed him as going blind and Dementia. He could not handle anything around his neck, so can only wear a harness. We have zero doubt he was once a chained dog.
Now a few months later he loves everyone who is not at all fearful or hesitant of him, no more pain, we can handle him all around the neck and will attempt putting on a collar this week.
However, due to his age and medical status, he will likely live his life with us as a hospice foster. He will likely never leave us. He has loved everyone in our staff, only gets disoriented and grumbly a few times and never acts on it.
